    Exilis

Exilis is a no-downtime, no pain, in-office procedure used for both combined skin tightening and non-invasive fat removal and body contouring.

    Vanquish how it works

    What is Exilis?

Exilis is a no-downtime, no pain, in-office procedure used for both combined skin tightening and non-invasive fat removal and body contouring. It is used to tone skin and improve skin texture while reducing unwanted areas of the fat using radiofrequency technology. Exilis is completed as a series of sessions and gently warms the skin to encourage collagen growth and reduce unwanted fat.

    How does it work?

Exilis is a monopolar radiofrequency device. Specialized, safe electrical energy is delivered by the Exilis handpiece to the skin. A grounding pad, usually placed on one’s back during the treatment, ensures safe delivery of the radiofrequency. During treatment, radiofrequency energy flows from the treatment tip to the skin, warming the skin to approximately 42 to 44 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, collagen undergoes structural changes. By using different wave settings, the energy can penetrate the skin and heat up some of the different layers.

The specific radio frequencies unravel the collagen fibers, causing fibroblasts to start producing more of this protein. This can have a skin tightening effect in the long term, by building up the fiber network in the skin. Over a period of weeks to months following treatment, new collagen growth is encouraged, leading to improvement in skin texture, laxity, and even wrinkles.

Exilis is also used for the purposes of fat reduction. By delivering the radiofrequency deeper into the tissues, the Exilis technology can “melt away” the fat. The actual process works by using energy to destroy the fat cells, which are then broken down and removed from the treatment area by the body’s natural processes.

What areas can be treated with Exilis?

Exilis is FDA-cleared for skin toning and firming and can be used on many areas of the face and body. Common areas of treatment on the face include the neck and jowls where it is used to tighten skin and reduce fullness related to fat deposits.
Exilis is also an excellent procedure for tightening and toning areas of skin laxity on the body. It can be used on the abdomen, flanks, arms, and thighs to slim the silhouette and improve skin texture due to aging.

    Good Candidates

Exilis is recommended for any patient between the ages of 25 and 70+ who desires cosmetic improvement without surgery.

    Are in good health

    Have realistic expectations

Mild to moderate signs of aging

    Do not want surgery

    Preparation

Because this procedure has required no forms of anesthesia, no incisions, and no downtime, there is very little preparation that is required. We recommend that patients stay hydrated before and after their treatment as it will help to facilitate the best results. It is also important that patients maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen to ensure the body is working at it’s best.

    Recovery

After the Exilis treatment, patients will be able to return to their daily routines immediately. There is no downtime whatsoever and patients will feel little to no discomfort. We do recommend that patients walk immediately after the treatment to enhance lymphatic drainage.
If patients experience any redness or warmth, this is completely normal and will dissipate within one to two hours following their treatment.

    Results

We ask that our Exilis patients understand that the results will not be immediate; they can begin to see improved contour after several weeks. We recommend that patients receive between four to six treatments spaced apart in order to obtain optimal results. After the treatment sessions are completed, patients will see a significant decrease in fat cells throughout the treatment area. Many patients can see results in as little as two weeks of their final treatment session. This may vary from person to person depending on the rate that their body destroyed and metabolizes the fat cells.
The results are long-lasting because the fat cells are being destroyed and removed from the body. It is advised that patients maintain a proper diet and exercise regime after their treatments to ensure the longevity of the results.

    Pricing

The cost of the Exilis procedure will vary depending on the treatment area and the number of sessions that patients require to achieve their desired results. Upon evaluation, the doctor will be able to provide you an accurate price quote for the treatment. To receive a personalized Exilis quote, contact our office today and request a consultation!

    TLDR / FAQ

    • How does a Exilis treatment feel? Does Exilis hurt?

Exilis is easy and painless. Treatment to a single area takes approximately 20-30 minutes. During treatment the Exilis handpiece is constantly gliding over the skin in continual arcs and circles. The treatment feels like a warm roller ball floating over the skin’s surface. No pain medication or numbing cream is necessary.
    • How many Exilis treatments are recommended?

A series of treatments is recommended. Exilis is typically performed as 4-6 sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, depending on whether skin tightening, fat reduction, or a combination of both is being targeted.
    • Is there any downtime following an Exilis treatment?

Not at all. Unlike many other skin tightening devices, there is no downtime following treatment with Exilis. The skin appears normal and without inflammation after treatment. The skin may feel slightly warm to touch or pink for several minutes following treatment.
    • What kind of results will I expect to see?

As Exilis works by stimulating new collagen growth, a process called “neocollagenesis,” results take some time to develop. Typically, results are seen within a period of weeks to months.
    • Is there any side downtime?

The whole procedure is non-invasive and requires no recovery time. You can easily have the treatment during your lunch break, and return to your daily activities immediately. Adverse effects from Exilis are uncommon and mild in nature. Mild redness or a hive-like reaction is possible but rare. A burn or nerve injury is extremely unlikely given the automatic shut-off safety features on this radiofrequency device. This differentiates Exilis from other radiofrequency devices that may cause burns or pain, especially when treatment occurs over bony surfaces.
    • Who is a good candidate for Exilis?

Patients with relatively good skin elasticity or “spring back” respond more readily to treatment. Younger patients may have more dramatic responses. Patients with poor skin texture may have more modest results or require more frequent treatments. Anyone seeking skin tightening or mild body contouring of stubborn areas of fat without surgery may benefit from Exilis.
    • Will I need re-treatment? How long do results last following Exilis?

Exilis leads to visible skin tightening effects but maintenance treatments are always encouraged. Typically, patients may have a “touch-up” session once six months to a year, although the frequency is highly dependent on the individual.
    • What areas of the face and body can be treated with Exilis?

Small areas needing skin tightening or small amounts of body contouring are best suited for Exilis treatment. Frequently treated areas on the body include the abdomen, thighs, arms, knees, and neck. A more superficial treatment head of Exilis, called Protégé Elite, is used to treat crepiness on the face including around the eyes and lower face.
    • Will I need to change my lifestyle or follow a defined diet?

Exilis will help you achieve aesthetic improvement regardless of your lifestyle. You will not be required to exercise or alter your dietary habits. However, the treatment results give you a head start to a better looking body. Most patients feel motivated to take care of themselves better when the procedure is over.
    • Can I combine Exilis with other procedures?

Yes. Exilis is an excellent complement to Ultraformer 3, a robust ultrasound device used as a nonsurgical alternative to deeper tissue tightening. Exilis may also be combined with Protégé Elite during the same treatment, another radiofrequency device that best targets crepey, superficial skin changes. Patients that have undergone liposuction may also benefit from a series of Exilis treatments following surgery to encourage further skin tightening and enhance the body contouring effects of liposculpture. Typically, botulinum toxin injections such as Botox, Xeomin or Dysport are avoided on the same day of treatment. Fillers such as Juvederm or Sculptra are best completed at separate visits. However, other aesthetician services and some laser or light-based procedures such as IPL or Pico/Excel-V may be completed on the same day.
